A SONGWRITERS SNOWY GET-AWAY... In November of 2001, I fulfilled a childhood dream of mine. My family shares a cozy A-Frame cabin up near Lake Tahoe, CA. As a kid, we would stay up there several times a year. We'd have fabulous West Coast snow skiing in the winter and all kinds of water and hiking recreation in the Summer. I have always wanted to spend some time up there alone with my guitar and nature. Well, that Fall, I just decided to go for it! I stayed up there for 6 days (woa) and during that time it did little else but snow!!! Over four feet were on the ground by the time I left. The place was so frozen when I got there that it took a whole day to thaw out the pipes so I could have running water! Over the course of the next few days, I found myself on many rustic adventures. I spent hours digging out wood from the snow-covered woodpile for the fire, scaring off the raccoons who had moved into the insides of the walls to keep warm and shoveling the path to the drive. The whole adventure paid off in new music. I finished two songs: "And I Will" and "Change Me". I started a few others as well and really focused in on developing new ideas. It was a great time for me spiritually as well. There's nothing like watching it snow....and snow...and snow... Here are a few moments I captured from that week: Ahhhh, morning in Tahoe.
